What Zukan will never do.

We read every one-star review of every app in this category before writing a line of code. The complaints were not about missing features. They were about being handled. This is the list we wrote from them, and it is a page on the public site so that breaking it is a thing you can point at.

Version 1 · published 1 September 2026

01

Money

  • No weekly subscription.

One competitor pre-ticks €8.99 a week behind a button that says “Try for Free”. That is €467 a year. Zukan has €5.99 a month and €39.99 a year, and no third option will appear.

  • Nothing is pre-selected without being priced.

The yearly plan is preselected because it is the cheaper one, and its full price and renewal date are on the same screen at the same size.

  • The paywall shows what stays free.

Side by side with what Pro costs. If the free tier is good enough for you, the paywall will tell you that itself.

  • The close button is there from the first frame.

No countdown, no ghost cross, no second screen.

  • Two taps to cancel.

Settings → Manage subscription opens the store's own screen. There is no retention flow, because there is nowhere for us to put one.

  • No feature leaves the free tier.

What is free at launch stays free. Apps in this category have paywalled a shipped feature and taken years of one-star reviews for it.

02

Attention

  • No advertising, at any size.

Not banners, not “sponsored” cards mixed into your collection, not an ad SDK sitting dormant for later. There is no advertising code in the build.

  • No rating prompt during onboarding.

It appears once, after a milestone — fifty cards, or a collection past €500 — and never in the middle of a task.

  • No notification asked for cold.

The request comes after your third scan, with the reason attached: to tell you when your cards gain value. Say no and it is never asked again.

  • No streaks, no badges you did not ask for, no engagement machinery.

Milestones exist because finding your first card is genuinely a moment. That is where it stops.

03

Data

  • No account to use the app.

No email, no password, no name. The collection is on your phone from the first scan. An account exists only if you want cloud backup, and the app is complete without one.

  • No analytics SDK.

No Firebase, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel, no session recording. We do not know what screen you are on.

  • No advertising identifier, so no tracking prompt.

The AD_ID permission is stripped from the Android build. iOS never shows an App Tracking Transparency dialog because there is nothing to track.

  • Your photos stay on your phone.

Text recognition runs on the device. The picture of the card is read locally and is not uploaded.

  • Your data comes out as easily as it went in.

CSV export, in the free tier, covering everything you own.

04

Honesty about the product itself

  • A price you cannot check is not shown as a fact.

Range, source and timestamp, always. Where there is no recent sale, the app says “No recent sales” instead of inventing one.

  • We do not advertise games we do not have.

Two catalogues are live. Nine more are modelled and waiting. Both halves of that sentence are on the home page.

  • No official card artwork in our marketing.

Every mockup on this site is drawn by us. It is a legal position and an aesthetic one: the app should be recognisable without borrowing someone else's characters.

  • Affiliate links are labelled as affiliate links.

Where the card sheet links out to a marketplace, the app says on that screen that we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.

If we break one of these

Write to us. The list is public and dated so that it can be held against us — that is the only thing that makes a commitment different from a marketing sentence.
