Zukan has not launched, so it has no download counts and no five-star average to show you. Here is what it has instead: things you can verify the day you install it.

Nobody else in this category will tell you what the first hour actually looks like, so here it is, in three steps.

Open the camera. That is the whole setup.
No account, no profile, no eleven-screen tour. The first thing Zukan asks you to do is scan a card, and the first thing it gives you back is what that card is worth.

Turn on Rapid and empty a binder page.
Hold the phone above the page, slide cards under it on the beat, and keep going. Everything lands in a review list with its price — you check the batch once, then add it in one action.

Read the total, then fix the edges.
The collection now has a value, a breakdown by set and a completion percentage. What the scanner misread, you correct in one tap; what it could not find, you report in one tap.
One second between the card and its price.
Text recognition runs on your phone. Point, capture, and the card comes back named — set, number, printing — with a foil shimmer across it the moment it is identified.
- On-device OCR. No upload, no round trip, no server deciding what your card is. It works in a basement with two bars of signal.
- Wrong printing? One tap. The single most common complaint in this category is a scanner that picks the wrong set. Zukan shows the runners-up and swaps in one tap.
- Duplicates flagged, not stacked. Scan a card you already own and Zukan says so before it adds a second copy.
- A card it cannot find is reported in one tap. The number goes to us; the card gets added to the catalogue.

A number you can check.
Every other app in this category shows you one figure and asks you to believe it. Zukan shows a range, names the source it came from and stamps when it was last read — so the number is something you can go and check rather than something you have to trust.
- A range, not a single figure. Low and high, from the market data actually available for that exact printing — not an average dressed up as a fact.
- The source, named on the card. TCGplayer or Cardmarket today; sold-listing comps from eBay and PriceCharting once those connections are live. You always see which one you are reading.
- The timestamp, shown. A three-week-old price is not a price. Zukan tells you how old the number is instead of letting it age quietly.
- "No recent sales" is a valid answer. The card sheet has a place for real sales, and where there are none it says so rather than inventing a number to fill the space. That line is on the screen today, and it is honest today.
Your binder, read like a brokerage account.
Total value in gold at the top, the curve underneath, and what you actually paid held against what it is worth now. Cards are an asset class whether or not the apps treat them like one.
- Value against cost. Record what you paid and Profit does the subtraction, per card and across the whole collection.
- Priced by quantity. Three copies count three times. Sounds obvious; most of this category gets it wrong.
- Broken down by game and by set. Which game is carrying your collection, and how far each set has to go.
- Set completion, Pokédex-style. Choose whether holos and reverses count towards the percentage. It is your definition of complete, not ours.
Scan the whole binder without stopping.
Hold the phone, feed cards under it, and Zukan keeps capturing on a steady beat — one every 2.2 seconds, with a haptic tick so your hands know the rhythm without watching the screen. Nothing is added until you have reviewed the batch.

- Misses are visible. A card it could not read says so on the spot — show it again, or search by name.

Every printing is its own card
Normal, holo, reverse, first edition, foil, parallel — each with its own price, because the market treats them as different cards.

Part of a name, a collector number on its own, French accents ignored, and your last ten searches waiting.
Offline first
The collection is a database on your phone. Aeroplane mode changes nothing except live prices.

Apps in this category advertise twenty games and ship catalogues with holes in them. Zukan lists what it actually syncs today, and what is built but waiting on a catalogue provider. The list will change; this page will change with it.

Pokémon is the scope commitment: English, French and Japanese, every set, before a third game goes live. A collector can check that claim in thirty seconds, which is exactly why it is the claim.
What Zukan does not do yet.
No app in this category publishes this list. Writing it down is the cheapest way we know of making the rest of the page believable — and every line here is something you would otherwise discover on your own, annoyed, three days in.
Sold-listing comps are not connected yet.
The card sheet is built to show recent real sales under the price, and it will. Until the eBay and PriceCharting connections are live it reads “No recent sales” — which is true, rather than a fixture pretending to be evidence.
Price alerts are not in the first version.
They are on the list and they are not built. When they ship they will be part of Pro at the same price, not a new tier.
Cloud backup is not switched on.
Your collection lives on your phone with three rolling weekly backups you can restore from Settings. The sync half is written and off; Settings says “Coming soon” because that is what it is.
Nine of the eleven games have no catalogue.
They are modelled properly — printings, languages, variants — and each one is waiting on a data source. Pokémon and Magic are the two you can actually use today.
Scanning is hardest on the cards you would expect.
Direct glare on a holo, a card behind a reflective toploader at an angle, heavy edge wear, and low light. Those are in our manual accuracy set precisely because they are where a scanner earns or loses its reputation.
What Zukan will never do.
This category runs on dark patterns. A pre-ticked weekly plan behind a button marked “Try for free”. A close button that appears after five seconds. A rating popup during onboarding. We wrote the list down so you can hold us to it.
Read the whole commitment- No weekly subscription. Not ever — the €8.99/week plans in this category work out at €467 a year.
- The paywall close button is there from the first frame.
- Cancelling takes two taps from Settings, with a direct link to your subscription.
- The paywall lists what stays free next to what costs money, on the same screen.
- No rating prompt during onboarding. It comes once, after a milestone worth being proud of.
- No feature that is free today gets moved behind the paywall later.

The things people ask first.
When does Zukan launch?
The app is built and in testing on real devices. We are not putting a date on this page, because the only thing worse than waiting is a date that moves. Leave your email and you will hear once, on the day.
Is it really free?
Five scans a day, permanently, plus unlimited viewing of everything you have already added, set completion, search and CSV export. That is not a trial. Pro removes the scan limit and adds Rapid mode, the portfolio graph, Profit, full price history and alerts.
Where do the prices come from?
Market data from TCGplayer and Cardmarket today, with sold listings from eBay and PriceCharting to follow — those two connections need a server proxy and a subscription and are not live yet. Whichever source a number came from is named on the card sheet, with the time it was last read. Under the range there is a place for real recent sales, and until those connections land it reads “No recent sales” rather than showing you something invented.
Do I have to create an account?
No. There is no sign-up screen. The collection is a database on your phone from the first scan. An optional account exists only for cloud backup, and it never becomes a requirement.
Are my card photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Text recognition runs on the device. The photo is used to read the card and is not sent to us or to anyone else.
Which games are supported?
Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering have live catalogues today. Nine more games — Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Lorcana, Digimon, Star Wars Unlimited, Flesh and Blood, Dragon Ball Super, Union Arena and Weiss Schwarz — are modelled in the app, with their own printings and languages, and are waiting on a catalogue provider.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Your collection, its value at the last known prices, set completion and search all work with no connection. Only fresh prices need the network.
Can I get my data back out?
CSV export, in the free tier, covering everything you own. It is there because an app that holds your collection hostage does not deserve it.
How do I cancel?
Settings, then Manage subscription — two taps, and the link goes straight to Apple or Google. Subscriptions are billed by the store, so cancelling is instant and does not go through us.
Is Zukan connected to Pokémon or any card publisher?
No. Zukan is an independent app made by OBAM CORP in France. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, Creatures Inc., Wizards of the Coast or anyone else. Card and set names are used to identify cards, which is what a catalogue is for.
